Upton Sinclair wrote the book the jungle which was about the meat inspection act. He wrote it because he thought it was unfair that the people were eating the meat and they would get sick. He was a progressor because if he did not write the jungle it would have taken a longer time to have the meat inspection act and more people would eat more bad meat.
