TGD - FDR and the new deal

Franklin delano roosevelt was the 32nd president who was extremely confident, had a "can do attitude", was reform minded, had a friendly personality, and had a disability that made it harder on him but he made it through it. he had a group called the brain trust who were college professors, lawyers, and journalists who startegized plans to alleviate the great depression.one of the ideas that they crated was the new deal and it was a program designed to fix problems of the great depression three major goals that the new deal attempted to adress was to relive the needy, or, give people what they needed like food water and shelter, have some econmic recovery which meant more jobs for the people, and last financial reform so fix banks and the stock market. one of FDR's first actions were to close all bank and send an inspector to check the banks and see if they had plenty of money to pay their bills, if they did then they remained open and if not they remained closed until they were financially stable.

the great depression - president hoover's handling of the crisis

Herbert Hoover, a republican president at the beginning of the great depression, was ineffective in his response because he was against giving money to the people who needed it and decided to give it to big corperations. this made the american people frustrated and the farmers decided to burn their crops, pour their milk on the streets and they stopped working. he also lacked emotion and common scense which made the vetrans make a bonus army which included their families and they marched all the way to washington d.c to support a law that gives them money at the time they neede it but president hoover decided to tear gas them and call them communist, the very people who fought for their country, to me that is just wrong.
